About

Punny, Nerdy and Proudly Personal

At The Papercutting Nerd, we create punny, nerdy, and irresistibly cutesy stickers and stationery that celebrate the things that make us wonderfully unique — from geeky obsessions to cultural roots.

Our designs blend humor with heart, crafting a space where everyone can find a little piece of themselves — whether it’s through a clever pun, a familiar comfort character, a cozy planner template, or a sticker inspired by your heritage.

We believe in the beauty of everyday creativity and the joy of feeling seen. From lovingly drawn embroidery patches to playful planner sheets and stickers, each piece is designed to spark smiles, start conversations, and remind you that nerdiness, culture, and cuteness can coexist — beautifully and unapologetically.

Our Story

Nubia Cháidez, also known as The Papercutting Nerd, is a Chicago-based Latinx maker and designer with a deep passion for paper crafting and design. Her creative journey began during the scrapbooking boom of the late ’90s, which inspired her to explore the world of professional-grade crafting supplies. Along the way, she noticed a significant gap in the market: the lack of representation for the Latinx community in creative materials.

Unable to find products that reflected her culture, Nubia began adapting existing designs and eventually turned to graphic design to create her own. Her playful, doodle-style illustrations are highly versatile and translate well across stickers, fabric, and paper crafting products. Whether working with bold, vibrant colors or minimalist neutral palettes, Nubia always finds ways to celebrate culture—because, to her, representation matters.

In addition to her design work, Nubia proudly embraces her inner nerd. Though her day job doesn’t always allow for creative expression, it does tap into her love for meticulous planning. When decorative planning grew into a creative movement, she instantly knew she had found her community.

Nubia lives to create. When she’s not designing, you’ll find her immersed in fiber arts like crochet and sewing, or experimenting with jewelry making. She’s yet to find a craft she doesn’t enjoy—and her well-stocked craft room is proof of that!
